I can’t seem to remember a time when there wasn’t a guitar laying around the house. Not that my folks played but we had this old Stella guitar. My brother, sister and I would pretty much just play ‘Rock Star’ with it -nothing too serious. Then my family moved from Minneapolis to Colorado and I started taking guitar lessons in 3rd grade.
It was non stop from there with my sister and I forming one rock band after another thru jr. high and high school and finally auditioning a drummer that we had known for years. The 3 of us were out to rock the world. We were determined, focused and living the dream. In the mean time love crept in and Bryan (the drummer) and I were married 4 years later. Eventually we took our band on the road and toured the country for 3 years. Jamming with the likes of Gary Rossington from Lynyrd Skynyrd and opening up for Blue Oyster Cult in Daytona Beach were some of the highlights of our road days.
Being a cradle Catholic my faith was always present but I had ‘my’ agenda and was very distracted.
Band members would come and go and I found it harder and harder to keep putting my game face on. The secular world of rock and roll was not feeding me anymore.
After a health scare in 2000, I found myself back in church and looking for answers. God touched my heart with ‘His’ answer and I wound up playing and writing music for my Lord. I have had the privilege over the last 11 years to use my talents in church, on retreats, and now with Sling And A Stone. Sharing this ministry with Bryan and my fellow Slingers is such a gift and a blessing beyond words.
Thank you God and now it’s time to ROCK!!!
